It’s important that your BLOG POST get as many good-quality backlinks as you can. So After you hit publish you want to promote it everywhere! Your email list, Social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, etc…) EVERY TIME you share the URL to your new blog post it’s a signal to the “Internet” that “hey, this new blog post seems popular — it’s being shared all over the place!”
I SPACE OUT all of these “Tasks” so that No one is getting 20 different notifications at once if they follow me on multiple social media platforms online! Plus this gives your content a chance to see new eyeballs at different times of the day, week, etc..
It’s VERY IMPORTANT that you PROMOTE your new blog post and complete most of these tasks to create “backlinks” and Pings” (within the first 24-48 hours for the best results) after hitting publish on your blog posts! Think of every new blog post you write as a “New Year, Month Week or a New Adventure and Only The Beginning of Something Epic!”
🚀 Distribution: Where & How To Start Promoting Your New Blog Post…
📌 Ping Blog Post
Once you’re blog post goes “live” and you’ve hit the publish button so the rest of the world can see it now you have to let the internet know it exists! Probably one of the first steps I take after making my blog post public is to “PING” it.
What is pinging?
FYI “Pinging a blog” means sending a notification to a server, usually through an XML-RPC signal, to alert it that a new blog post has been published on a website, essentially informing search engines and other blog directories about the updated content on a blog; it’s a way to let them know to come and index the new post.
You’ll want to have “good quality pings” so be sure to use reputable service providers.
✅ Immediately after hitting publish, I manually PING My Blog Post to: Pingler.com and Pingomatic
📌 Tweet Blog Post on X
One of the easiest and fastest ways to share your blog post is on X (formerly Twitter) in a “Tweet” aka “Social Media Post”
Almost immediately after my blog post is made public, I will send a quick Tweet on my Twitter Account with a few related hashtags along with the URL to get the word out and create a backlink to my new blog post!
I also will HEART the Tweet and & PIN it to the top of my profile on Twitter, so it’s the first thing people see but this is a manual process.

How To Automate This Process:
You can automate most of this process by “pre-writing” and “Scheduling” your Tweet either directly on the X platform for FREE OR you could use a PAID service to pre-schedule posts on Twitter (now X) via Content Studio or even a WordPress Plugin like Blog2Social. Then go back once a day or week and to make sure you heart the post and pin it too!
✅ Tweet Blog Post + URL, Heart It, & Pin to the top of X (formerly (Twitter) Profile
PS In case you haven’t set up your Twitter (now X) account yet, I showed you How To Set Up X (Formerly Twitter) To Drive More Traffic To Your Blog and all the steps you NEED to take, plus WHY you should do it in a prior blog post!
📌 Pin Blog Post To Pinterest
Do NOT underestimate the POWER of PINTEREST to promote your blog post, which if you didn’t know is a search engine great for SEO! Just like people search Google for almost everything, the same goes for Pinterest!
I shared How To Set Up Your Pinterest Account in my Complete Guide to Pinterest for Bloggers 101 — (all about getting started & driving traffic to your blog using Pinterest)
Every time I publish a new blog post I make sure to Pin it to one of my Pinterest boards. I’ll Include the Blog Post Title, Description (with Keywords, and Hashtags), and Blog Post URL. Plus, an image people will want to click!
If you don’t have an image for your new blog post, then it’s easy to create one via Canva for FREE Fast and Easy!
You can pin your blog post immediately to one board and also schedule a pin to go out to another board later that day or the next. But be sure to change the image or tweak it just a bit.
How To Automate The Process:
You can schedule Pins to go out directly on Pinterest if you have a Pinterest Business Account. Either manually a few at a time or even easier by uploading a spreadsheet (I think up to 200 at a time)!
Then of course, you could use a Third Party Service to help automate this process, but I haven’t had success with this as much as others have:
- Tailwind is the BIGGEST known BLOGGING SECRET almost every blogger uses to help Pin their blog posts to Pinterest.
- Also platforms such as Content Studio and WordPress Plugins like Blog2Social are some of my other top favorites.
I just personally don’t use them as much as I do scheduling and pinning directly on Pinterest!
✅ PIN blog post to Pinterest boards. — Today, Tomorrow, Next Week, Next Month!
📌 Send Email Newsletter about New Blog Post to List
Another thing I like to do after publishing a new blog post is send out an email newsletter to my list of subscribers.
Sometimes, I do this immediately, but I might also wait a day or even a week. It all depends on the blog and frequency.
How To Automate The Process:
I showed How To Build An Email List To Share Your Blog Posts (for FREE With MailChimp) in a prior post which is not only great for sending emails but also automating the process.
So yes, you can write and send emails manually or save time by automating the process, either scheduling them to go out or setting up an RSS Feed Email Newsletter (via MailChimp). Which sends a snippet of your most recent blog post or you can send the entire blog post as an email to your list.
I either have a PRE-WRITTEN Email Newsletter scheduled to go out already, if not, I manually send it out and blast my list to let them know the blog post is out and to GO READ IT! Otherwise, I just let the RSS Feed Emails (that go out separately) keep my audience updated.
✅ SEND EMAIL Newsletter AFTER the blog post is “Published” or “Public” to my email list via MailChimp.
📌 Post New Blog To Facebook
Another great way to get a backlink to your new blog post and promote your content is by posting about it on Facebook!
The BEST way to POST TO FACEBOOK is With your BLOG POST URL LINK IN COMMENTS (NOT in the actual Facebook Post itself) as they don’t tend to promote content that is telling people to Go Read Something OFF of their platform.
So it’s a little-known blogging secret of successful bloggers when promoting their blog posts on Facebook to NEVER put the URL links in your actual Facebook post instead tell people to:
⬇️ READ BLOG LINK IN COMMENTS ⬇️
and then ADD the URL link as the first comment on the Facebook Post. — Otherwise, chances are not many people will ever see your post!
Plus, Be sure to LIKE the comment and your post on Facebook too!
Also, if you have a Facebook Profile, Page, and/or Group and let’s not forget about your stories too — that means you can promote your new blog post on each one (at different times, of course)
✅ Facebook Profile: Post to your Facebook Personal Profile with the blog post URL Link in the First Comment. Plus, LIKE the comment and your post on Facebook too
✅ Facebook Pages: Post to your Facebook PAGE(s) with the blog post URL Link in the First Comment. Plus, LIKE the comment and your post on Facebook too
✅ Facebook Groups: Post to your Facebook Groups with the URL Link in the First Comment. Plus, LIKE the comment and your post on Facebook too
✅ Facebook Stories: Almost every Facebook Profile, Page, and Group that I know of also has the option to create a story and promote your content. To add a link to a Facebook story, you can use the link icon in the story creator. — You can also add a link to a story by creating it on Instagram and sharing it to Facebook.
How To Automate The Process:
As far as posting on Facebook, you can either do this manually or schedule some of your profiles to post automatically via the Facebook Meta Business Suite.
But this will not allow you to “auto-post your first comment” like a paid third-party platform such as Content Studio does. YES not only can you pre-schedule you’re Facebook Post but also automate the process so that the first comment to go out as well!
Another paid third-party platform I love to use for scheduling my Facebook content is a WordPress Plugin Called Blog2Social.
📌 Share New Blog Post On LinkedIn
Posting to LinkedIn is another great way to drive traffic to your blog post (and VERY similar to the entire Facebook posting Process I mentioned above).
But I have to be honest, I’m not a huge LinkedIn User even though I do have a profile and company pages set up on the platform. However, I still use LinkedIn as another way to promote my new blog post content!
When I post a new blog I’ll typically head over to LinkedIn and share it.
✅ I POST to my LinkedIn (With the BLOG POST URL LINK IN COMMENTS. I NEVER put the blog post URL link in your actual LinkedIn post instead tell people to…
⬇️ VIEW BLOG LINK IN COMMENTS ⬇️
and then ADD the Blog post URL link as the first comment on the LinkedIn Post. Otherwise, LinkedIn tends to not promote your content on their platform.
Plus, Be sure to LIKE the comment and your post too!
How To Automate The Process:
Again I’m not a BIG user of LinkedIn but if I don’t post manually the ways I’ve found to Automate the process are Either via Content Studio or the Blog2Social WordPress Website Plugin I’ve started to explore using too!
📌 Promote New Blog Post On Instagram
Now, promoting your new blog post content on Instagram is a little trickier than the other social media platforms, but here’s what works for me and my strategy thus far…
And, while Instagram isn’t for everyone, it is still important to have a presence on all the major social media platforms, which I talked about in-depth in a prior blog post: “How To Set Up Social Media Accounts for Your Blog (the right way)” — including Instagram even if you don’t plan to post!
✅ Instagram Stories: Share your BLOG POST via Instagram stories using the LINK feature to add the blog post URL which allows people to Click and Read your Blog Post right on your Instagram Stories! — Don’t forget to SAVE all of your Instagram Stories plus add them as Highlights so people who come across your profile can continue to watch them and click your blog post link!
✅ Instagram Post: Promote your new blog content in an Instagram POST telling viewers to click the ⬆️ LINK IN BIO ⬆️ etc… — also LEAVE A COMMENT on your own IG post. Plus, Be sure to LIKE the comment and your post, too!
✅ Instagram Reels: Create a reel to promote your new blog telling people where to find your content (i.e. link in bio, website URL, etc…) while there is no direct way to “link” to your new blog post, you can use creative ways to send people to it. Plus IG Reels are supposedly the “new best thing” if you want to be seen on Instagram! Tip: Turn your IG Highlights into Reels! 😉
How To Automate The Process:
Whether you’re creating an Instagram Reel, Story, or Post. IG features its own automation and scheduling features both on the Instagram Mobile App or online via the Facebook Meta Business Suite (you can use it for Free).
I know posting in so many places sounds like a lot, but there are ways to save time and even automate the process, including Cross-promoting on Instagram, Facebook, and even Pinterest too!
Again, two of my new favorite finds so far for promoting my blog post content on social media are the WordPress Website Plugin called “Blog2Social” and Content Studio (the main reason being it also allows you to schedule your first Instagram comment)
One last thing about IG… I feel like I need to mention is to be sure that you set up the “Links In Your Instagram Bio” and UPDATE them to reflect any new content “links” you promote, like your new blog post! — I also have a link to MY BLOGS in general versus changing the link every time!
On a side note: there is a great option where you can put together a “Linktree,” and with their paid service schedule, the links can change along with any new content you promote!
📌 Add New Blog Post Link To Older Related Blog Posts (& Vice Versa)
Another great place to get backlinks to your new blog posts and promote your content is through your OLD blog posts!
If there are any old blog post that you mentioned or are related to your new blog post be sure to link them in your content BOTH on the OLD blog post and the new blog post!
✅ Add the NEW blog post URL link to the description of any older, related blog post or any you mentioned (& Vice Versa) – you want to link both blog posts together by sharing a link to the other.
💡 Final Thoughts on Timing…
Again I DO NOT POST TO EVERY PLATFORM AT ONE TIME! I SPACE OUT all of these “Tasks” so that…
- No one is getting 20 different notifications if they follow me in multiple places online!
- Plus you want to give your content time for people to see it. And if you’re trying to rank your blog post in SEO then it needs time to get picked up in the algorithms.
- Plus, you’re content will see different eyeballs at different times.
But it’s VERY IMPORTANT that you PROMOTE your blog posts and complete most of these tasks to create “backlinks” and Pings” within the first 24-72 hours after hitting publish!
Think of EVERY time you share your new blog post URL on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Your Website, etc… Google and the rest of “the Internet” see that as a SIGNAL that someone is SHARING this content aka they LIKE your NEW BLOG POST!
The more backlinks, shares, likes, comments, etc.. your new blog post gets the more the Internet (i.e. Google) will promote your blog post and send it to the TOP of the List for more views, subscribers, etc., on your content!
Your ONLY GOAL for the next 24-72 hours after publishing a new blog post is telling EVERYONE to go READ your NEW BLOG POST by sharing your blog post URL LINK everywhere!
